Welcome. My name is Karen Davis. I take pictures.

Born in Washington D.C., I moved to Phoenix, Arizona when I was only 8 years old so I consider the desert my home. I am ½ Cherokee and ½ Mojave, and am an enrolled member of the Ft. Mojave Tribe. I believe that we are all one with each other and with nature, and that we create energy through our thoughts and our actions. For this reason I try to always be positive, loving, thoughtful and respectful. This is the way in which I honor the 7 Directions of Life.

In January 2009 I did myself the biggest favor ever. I bought the camera of my dreams. I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures but never expected that enjoyment to turn into the passion that it is today. My new camera awakened the artist in me and gave me the means with which to capture some of the beauty that surrounds us every day.

I started out taking pictures of the desert during my regular hikes at South Mountain. From there I moved on to taking an annoyingly large number of pictures of my family. They begged me to find something else to focus on.

In April 2009 I ventured out one cold and rainy day, with my camera safely protected in its specially designed raincoat and took photos of a mountain bike race across the top of South Mountain. That day changed my life. I fell in love with trying to capture action and athletes in action. Since then I’ve followed friends to their different events and have taken thousands of pictures of marathoners, triathletes, mountain bikers, adventure racers and anything in between.

I have been blessed with success. I’ve met some wonderful people who continue to give me numerous opportunities to photograph the amazing human body as it works its way through a competition. I have had the pleasure of photographing races for Sierra Adventure Sports (sierraadventuresports.com) and documenting a portion of the extraordinary success story of Ironman Hollon Kinney (azendurance.com).

As the requests for copies of my pictures overtook my schedule I decided to start this website so I had a way of sharing my work with those that were interested. I’m excited to see where this part of my journey takes me. I am focused on the process and not on any final destination so who knows where this will lead. To say I’m having fun is such an understatement! Life is such a blast!!! Thanks for stopping by. Love and positive energy to you all.
